Guess who's back?

Its ME! and I would just like to apologize for being M.I.A. for the last week or so. The thing is, school started and my free time turned into me coming home, watching Netflix and not wanting to move time. Nevertheless, I am getting back into the swing of things (more or less) and have some pictures that cover what I've been up to. <3

So there are a few pictures of my quick trip down to long beach and the hat I was working on (finished now) as well as a look at my make-up and hair do for some clubbing I did Thurs. Also I started this book called "The Trick is To Keep Breathing" and its absolutely fabulous. My reading list has been almost ALL good so far.

And look who I found spooning the other day. I couldn't stop laughing. They are too adorable sometimes. =)

Crazy few days...

I'm sorry for not posting on Thursday, my boyfriend was in the hospital and I went to take care of him and ended up staying until he was released. Anyway he is doing great and I'm so glad he's back to his normal healthy self.
In other news, his mom is getting married in February and I just bought my outfit (plus a few other things) online so here is what I bought. The dress is from tobi and the other things are from Forever 21.

I'm going to wear the boots, dress, and ring for sure.. and probably the belt too if it matches (I got it in brown, not black). I hope your weekend is going great!

I DID IT!

The closet is clean! LOOK LOOK!

I am SO excited! I got rid of so many things! Now its time for organizing drawers and all the little things. I know I can finish this!
Speaking of, I finished the Invisible Man, started and finished Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and started Through the Looking Glass. I HIGHLY recommend These books! Especially the last two. I absolutely love the cleverness of Lewis Carroll, his word play and imagination have me absolutely smitten!

And.. as promised, my yard sale finds. I got an owl picture and frame...
Photobucket
A blue worn frame (which I filled with lovely pictures soon after this was taken)
Photobucket
And this awesome platter

This week is going so great so far, my running is going really well, I'm sticking with this room cleaning thing, and even though I spent a little too much money yesterday, I don't plan to spend any more (aside from putting gas in my car!) till Friday.
I love when life comes together.
How is your week going?

Dinner, Dogs and Hair do's

Matt and I finally went to Farrel's last night. We waited for about half an hour and then got seated. My review: Good food, great service, REALLY loud. I recommend going there with a group of people instead of just an intimate date.. you literally have to shout to have a conversation. The ice cream was so amazing though, I ordered an Oreo Sunday. Yum!

Also I snapped a few pics of the pups because they were looking especially adorable and I thought that I'd share. Too cute!
Photobucket
Tried something new with my hair today, two little braids pinned back on either side. I like the look and I LOVE that my hair is getting so long! I also found some cute things at a garage sale today!! Wooo! I'll save that for another post.
Thanks for reading! What's your go to hair style?

Reading and Recreation

Photobucket
Hello all! So as I mentioned last post I was working on some custom things for friends and family to kickstart my Lovely Eliza line, well the first project is finished! Ta Da!
Photobucket
I love how this came out and I think that I've got a customer for life with the friend I made it for! This is her second order from me in just a couple months <3
Also I'm working on a little butterfly sweater for a darling girl who I absolutely adore. So here are the colors I'm working with and the start of the back.
Photobucket
I actually restarted the pattern because it was looking a little weird and made the effort to do intarsia. Not my strongest suit but its gotta be with all the patterns I want to use for my line. =)
I started (and am more than halfway through) The Invisible Man by H.G. Wells. Also I fixed my favorite vintage purse a couple weeks ago and am loving toting it around!
Photobucket
Marathon training is going super great so far. Sometimes it takes a while to talk myself into going out and doing my run or walk but I'm always so glad I do it. =)
Thanks for reading!

Taking Pictures...

I'm not really the kind of person who whips out their camera at any moment so I've been working really hard on trying to find good opportunities to take photos. So here are some photos from the past week.

This is what my bed looks like when its all clean! I always have my computer on, especially when I'm knitting. Right now I'm working on some custom orders for friends to help pay for the yarn I'll use for my Autumn line.
Photobucket

This is me in the morning the other day. I have terrible eyesight but awesome glasses. They are Marc Jacobs. Ooh la la. Anyway I took this pic because my hair looked pretty good.. it was a hot mess to try and brush out though.. beauty is pain I guess. :)
Photobucket

I also got invited to a little girls birthday party this week so I'm going to make her this cardigan and put these little butterfly wings on the back because her party is bug themed! <3 I'm pretty excited. I'm also excited to be using up some of the massive amounts of yarn I've collected over the years.
Photobucket

I finished Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen this week and while cleaning my room found my key (left) and headband and necklace (right) sweet! <3
Photobucket

I'm still brainstorming for my line and have decided to take a little more time for development so that I'm absolutely in love with the products I put out. More posts soon. Did you find anything you'd forgotten about this week?

We're going to Disneyland!

My mom was dying to take a vacation over winter break, but everyone was pretty busy so she settled for a day at Disneyland.
Photobucket

We have this inside joke between my siblings that we live in the Matterhorn because whenever my Mom tells people from other states where we are from she always says, "We live by Disneyland." We love giving her a hard time and started saying we were farmers living in the Matterhorn and our address was Main Street, U.S.A, Disneyland, CA, U.S.A.

We had a super fun day reverting back to our childhood, and this was the first time I'd been at Disneyland for 8 or more years! I even got to ride the new Star Tours which was amazing! They even put a picture of Andrew up as the "rebel spy" on board our "flight".

Its nice to spend time with family even as we get older. We all get along a little better as we age, but its a blessing to be related to such wonderful people.

What was your last "vacation"?

New Year's Resolutions

The new year is a time of transitions, and while old habits don't disappear at the stroke of midnight I think that it is important to set goals. So here are my resolutions and I'll check them off along the way!

1. Read 15 books. Last year I read 12 and my resolution was 10 so this year I'm challenging myself a little further. Some tips for getting reading done is to read during waiting periods. I read in between my classes (usually about 15-20 min) or on my breaks at work. I'm not great at just sitting and reading but I've gotten lots of books read this way. I'm currently reading Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen.
Photobucket

2. Start a small business selling my crafts. I am a little nervous about putting my work out there for the world to judge.. and possibly just ignore! However I think it would be a great experiment and if I never try I'll never find out!

3. Run a marathon. So, since high school its been pretty hard for my to stay in shape. So, I've been trying to train for a marathon for about 3 years now and I always fall off the wagon. So this year I'm using the easiest form of training which involves a lot of walking to start off. Wish me luck.
Photobucket

4. Move in with Matt. My boyfriend and I have been planning to move in together, but we want to get our finances in check before we are committed to paying monthly for an apartment. We are both really focused so within the next couple of months we should be getting close!
Photobucket

5. Get a new job to help with the living costs. Check! I've already finished this one. I just got a second job that will bring in just enough money to keep us afloat if I've done all my calculations right. YAY!

6. Clean my room. I HAVE to do this this year. Especially if I'm moving out. I don't want to add to the stress of that by having to sort through all my junk! So I spent an hour the other day (which is a LONG time for me so it looks WAY cleaner than this pic) and I'm probably gonna try to find a few other days to spend that much time working on it. I can do this..
Photobucket

7. Get 20 followers for this blog! I'm keeping my number low because I don't want to be disappointed. I would love to have 20 followers by the end of the year and know that 20 people like to read my blog!

8. Get my first tattoo. I have been saving up change (literally, its in a piggy bank and I have about 84 bucks) to get my first ink. I was going to get it done on my birthday but more important costs came up. So I'm gonna stick to my original plan of just using change and see if I have enough by Valentine's day. =)

9. Go somewhere new. I'm thinking Chicago because my boyfriend is in love with that city and I've never been. I think I've flown through but that doesn't really count. I love traveling with the people I love and adding more places to my "I've been there" list. (found the photo through google)
Photobucket

10. Stay out of debt. A few years ago I had quite a bit of debt due to my handy dandy credit card. To get out of it I had to put every penny of savings and then some into the payments and I haven't payed an overdue charge for about a year. So I want to keep it up!

So those are my new years resolutions! What are some of yours? I'm thinking this is going to be the best year yet

Sunday, January 1, 2012

Hello! My name is Cassie, I am 22 years old, and this may be my fourth or fifth blog I've started. The thing is, I didn't have a clear direction about what I wanted to talk about or where my blog was meant to take me. Recently however, I am endeavoring on a new project: Lovely Eliza. This will be my serious attempt at creating and running my own small business where I make things and sell them to wonderful folks who love to feel cozy and cute.

I have realized from a few e-courses I've taken that blogging is a great way to get my products out there and to be inspired to make newer, better things. So this blog will not only be about my adventure in starting a small business, but about my day to day life and all the ridiculous things that happen along the way.

So, 5 fun facts about me (to be followed up by others as the blog develops of course).

1. I am in an awesome relationship with a certain wonderful man named Matt. We have been official for about 6 months but we met each other on New Years Eve 2010/2011. We didn't really talk then, but a few months later our mutual friend set us up and we fell in love. <3
Photobucket

2. I have 4 dogs! I live with my parents still (but not for long!) and we had 2 dogs, then one of them had puppies so we kept one bringing our number up to 3. Then we got one of the puppies back and thus have 4 loud, noisy, giant dogs. Well, at least they are cute!
Photobucket

3. I am part Native American. I'm only 1/128th but I belong to a tribe in Oklahoma and they give me some money to go to school. Because of this I am proud to call myself Native American and I absolutely love Native American jewelery, art, and color schemes. I especially love southwestern style.

4. I am a knitter. I have been knitting since I was about 14 years old and have been in love with it ever since. I used to go long breaks without knitting, but for the past 4 years or so the longest I go is a couple weeks.
Photobucket

5. I am chronically disorganized. My room is an absolute disaster and has been for most of my life. One of my new year's resolutions is to get organized and stay that way! Its just the getting started that's the hardest part!

So anyway, that's a little about me. Tell me a fun fact about you! Thanks for tuning in and I hope you come back to see what unfolds.
