I'm a cookin fool!

I've been trying my best to gain some cooking skills to get to my goal weight and be nice and healthy along the way. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a sucker for fast food and soda but I don't crave it as much now that I'm learning how fun it is to cook!
So here is a quick recipe for a quick low calorie snack or lunch that I made up! Your ingrediants are 1 tbsp of olive oil, 10-12 green beans, a clove of garlic (garlic salt works too), and salt and pepper.

So first you pour some olive oil into a hot frying pan (medium is usually a good heat). I don't really measure the olive oil, but its pretty caloric so I try to eyeball about a tbsp.

Then you chop up your garlic and throw that into your pan. (warning, this will make your entire house smell delicious) shake the pan a bit to move the oil and garlic around.

Then throw in your green beans. You probably want to just run them under water real quick for cleanliness before that.. but you just let them cook! They will start to get a little wrinkly which is when they really soak in the flavor, adding salt and a bit of pepper helps (in my opinion).

You can shake the pan or use a spatula to move them around and try to get them to cook even. The whole process takes maybe 10 minutes from prep to finish. Put on plate and eat! TADA. The finished product comes out to about 200 calories. Yum.

Also, My boyfriend and I totally made dinner together the other night. And it was AWESOME. We made cheesy spinach dip and that cucumber juice from my last post. SO yummy. We were so proud!

Both recipes I found on Punchfork so check it out! what have you made this week?

Tzaztiki Sauce

Instead of working on my paper that's due before 7 p.m. tomorrow I'm blogging. Obviously. In my defense I have written most of the introductory paragraph. Kids, don't be like me, get your homework done before its due so you don't have to stay up late with a headache starting a paper on someone you know next to nothing about.
Anywho, I was online the other day and ran across this website called Punchfork which then led me to another amazing site; Skinnytaste.com and oh my goodness I fell in love. Head over heels! There are a bunch of lower fat/calorie/guilt recipes just ripe for the picking. The first one I tried was tzaztiki sauce. I think the next time I do it I'm gonna use a little more yogurt and a little less of everything else, but that's just my preference.

I have 2 more cucumbers left (they were 3 for a dollar what was I supposed to do?!) so I'm thinking of making these things!

Oh and I have been running on and off but I am getting back on track so here are a couple of pics I took before my run today.

Bookworms

Hey all! I'm still working on taking more pictures but its a little harder than I thought! I did snap a couple photos of some books that are currently a part of my everyday life.
The Allure of Turquoise I picked up at the school library while getting some books for my first paper, turquoise is my absolute favorite and I thought I should do a little research while I had the material!
Photobucket
The Knitting Bible is a great book for beginner and expert knitters alike. It has great tips, abbreviation translations and a wonderful collection of stitches in the back that I reference ALL the time.. in fact I used the cable stitch for this hat!

And Dracula is the current "for fun" reading I'm doing. I finished The Trick Is To Keep Breathing and LOVED it. So far Dracula is pretty great too. Its a bit longer, but I'm feeling good about hitting my 15 books in a year goal.

Also here is a (not so great) picture of the sweater Matt bought me for Valentine's day. We went shopping together today and I picked this out and I LOVE it.

Thanks for reading :)

Hair and Hats

So, I was about to get my hair done and spend a ton of money on a cut and color when I decided I really didn't want to. Instead I looked up a video on how to trim hair.. gave mine a little snip and then bleached the ends of it myself. I've never dyed my whole head but I've been dying the ends of it blonde for a while now and wanted the whole "ombre" look. I got my bleach at hot topic for 14 bucks and still have a ton left. So here is my before, middle, and after pictures of that whole process.

It took me about 2 hours for the entire process maybe a little less time.. The reason I have my hair sectioned off is because I thought this would create a more natural line for the bleach.. and I think it turned out pretty well! about 60 bucks cheaper too!

Also here are some projects I finished up the past couple of weeks. A blue baby hat for my manager who's last day was today =( but she is going on maternity leave before her beautiful baby boy is born. I wanted to try a chevron pattern and I LOVE it. totally going in the fall line. <3
Photobucket
The black hat is for my friend Meghan, it also has a chevron pattern but it is in the stitching itself! It turned out wonderfully scrunchy!

Matt's mom got married this weekend (hence the non-existent posts!) but I will have some pictures up of that soon! Have a wonderful Valentine's day guys!

Our Trip to the Getty Center

Hey there! Matt and I had a FULL day off last Saturday so we thought we would brush up on our culture. We went to the Getty Center in L.A. and it was a fabulous day!

We got tired out pretty quick from all the walking but we were glad we crossed something else off of our list of things to do together. I'm still working on my custom projects and am about to start on a little baby hat for my manager's baby shower. I hope your Tuesday is super great!
